The 1967 Tour de France covered 4,779 km across 22 stages and highlighted the brilliance of French cyclist Roger Pingeon, who secured his first and only Tour victory. Pingeon, known for his endurance and tactical acumen, took control of the race with a long solo breakaway on Stage 5 and successfully defended his lead throughout the Tour. The runner-up was Spain’s Julio Jiménez, who also claimed the polka dot jersey as the best climber. Italian Franco Balmamion, a two-time Giro d'Italia winner, finished third. The green jersey for the points classification was won by Belgian Jan Janssen, who displayed consistent sprinting prowess. This edition is remembered for Pingeon’s bold strategy, Jiménez’s dominance in the mountains, and the tragic death of British rider Tom Simpson on Mont Ventoux, which marked one of the darkest moments in Tour history. .
