Second state of this map with the date 1597 removed from the title cartouche in 1612 and later editions. This is the rarest of the four Burgundy maps produced by Ortelius. Now roughly corresponding with the departments of Côte-d’Or and Saône-et-Loire (Duchy of Burgundy), and Doubs, Jura & Haute-Sâone (County of Burgundy), Bourgogne-Franche-Comté . Auctore Dno Ferdinando Lannoyo. Published by Abraham Ortelius. Published c1612. Large folio 17th century uncoloured engraved map. Size 39 x 54 cm | 15.5 x 21.0 inches. Condition: Fair: The map has been mounted on thick laid paper, likely during the 19th century, which has served to restore marginal paper loss and some small areas of paper loss in the printed area. As a result, the original verso is not directly visible; when held to the light, no evidence of printing appears on the reverse. Some manuscript annotations, however, are discernible, which show through to the front of the map at top. Spot. Spot. Please note any other blemishes on the scan prior to purchasing this picture.
