Ivanov’s heroic full-length portrait of Lenin striding forward against a vivid red hammer-and-sickle flag. At right appears the celebrated slogan from Vladimir Mayakovsky’s 1924 poem—“Lenin lived, Lenin lives, Lenin will live forever!”—a phrase central to the Soviet cult of Lenin and widely reused in commemorative material during the 1960s–70s. The bold composition links Lenin’s enduring authority to the foundational myth of the 1917 Revolution, signalled by the large numerals at lower right, and reflects the polished visual language of mid-1970s state political printing.
