Featured in this lot is a Chippewa Cree throwing arrow & bone point spear made by Many Trails, from the Many Trails Collection at the former Indian Nations Trading Post in Livingston, Montana. The throwing arrow game originated around the 1920s - 1930s by the Apsaalooke Crow of Montana. This arrow shows a wood construction with brass tacks, a small beaded section near the middle and wrapped tanned rawhide on the tops and bottoms. It is adorned with three turkey feathers and shows turkey feather fletching. The tip is long and constructed from steel, showing a nice point. The section of beads is multi-colored showing colors of yellow, blue, light blue, purple, orange, red and light green. The bone point spear shows a solid wood construction with a rawhide and red trade blanket wrap. It is adorned with three turkey feathers and rawhide strips with a trade bead and copper beads. The top shows a tuft of fur while the bottom shows a long strand of horse hair. The bone point spear head is held in place by a parfleche wrapping. The throwing arrow and bone point spear show good condition overall with little wear present and no signs of damage is noted. The throwing arrow measures 56" L x 2 1/2" W x 2 1/4" D, while the bone point spear measures 52 5/8" L x 1 1/4" W x 7/8" D. They have a collective weight of 1 pound and 4 ounces.
