Cal. 65 Smoothbore. NSN. Bbl. 7". Unmarked flintlock pistol produced by an unknown maker. Lockplate is unmarked, save for a single line border (also present on hammer) and a small floral motif towards the tail. Bbl. tang is engraved with a foliate motif. 1-piece plain wood stock features a brass trigger guard, featuring single line border engraving and a small engraved motif at the center of the bow, and terminates in an engraved pineapple finial. Brass ramrod ferrules with period horn or bone tipped hardwood ramrod. CONDITION: iron components exhibit a gray patina, with scattered spots and patches of light surface oxidation, pitting, and age related discoloration. Brass furniture has acquired a pleasing mellow patina. Proper manual mechanics, with the hammer holding at half-cock. Stock shows scattered marks and impressions from handling and storage, with a crack stemming from the lockplate that runs to the rear of the trigger guard finial. Horn / bone tip of ramrod exhibits a near full length crack along the side. (01-29141/MLW). ANTIQUE. $300-500.
