The letters, all addressed to Mr Moar, discuss arrangements for a lecture the author was expected to give at the Darlington Branch of the English Association ("I arrived home from America at the end of last week, and am now facing those lectures which are to be given over here during the next two months....You mentioned in your letter of July 19th that Miss Walker would like me to read at the Training College. Would this be possible and quite convenient to her on the afternoon of Wednesday the 11th, if my lecture for the E.A. is in the evening?", 27 December 1924; "May we definitely fix on the 28th for my lecture at Darlington? I shall be coming from Newcastle, that morning, and if it will be convenient to the Principal of the Training College to have the Reading that afternoon, it would be a great pleasure to come then", 5 January 1925"), expenses related to the lecture, and issues about a screen ("I can't tell you how sorry I am that you have had so much trouble over the screen. It sounds incredible, but I really bought that screen in Nottingham. None the less, I can see you and me actually interviewing the shopkeeper! and shall report the matter to the Society for Physical Research! I do extremely stupid things frequently, but this I think passes all bounds", 14 April 1925); seven pages in total, 4to and 8vo, 14 Thornsett Road, Anerley and Hill House, Taplow, 27 December 1924- 27 April 1925; together with the typed lecture delivered by de la Mare at the Darlington English Association on the subject of 'Character in Fiction' and the original programme.
