Addressed to Mr Hobman, the first letter says "Yes my letter was for publication but you need not use it now. But I don't see the playfulness of this sort of misrepresentation", one page, 4to, Easton Glebe, 21 August 1924, with the letter mentioned by Wells, addressed to "Dear Westminster", saying "Why do you suddenly begin to say silly things about me, your constant week end guest? [...] Because I object to masses of boys being taught Latin and Greek very slowly and badly with no purpose of sort?"; another letter Wells says he and his wife "would be delighted o meet Mrs Hobman and will come to dinner very gladly on Tuesday April 8th. I don’t think I shall do three articles for Maclure (?) but I am writing six very amusing ones about Belloc's reply to the 'Outline of History'. He is doing a sort of Companion to the Outline in 24 articles", two pages, 4to, Easton Glebe, 27 March 1926. Another letter reads "My daughter in law has sent me your letter asking me what I think of the position of the Jewish members of the Berlin P.E.N. club. I think the point so far as the P.E.N. club is concerned is perfectly simple. As members of the Berlin branch there are neither Jews nor Gentiles. The club is (as should be) a club of German writers, a completely free club. If any external body interferes with the membership or activities, it ceases to be a P.E.N. club. [...] The P.E.N. club does not deal with a man as a Jew but as a writer or artist", two pages, 4to, Lou Pidou, 21 April 1933; folding marks with occasional splitting, fraying and chipping to margins, creasing, 1924-1933.
