
Autograph Collection.- Opera Singers
A collection of letters by prominent Opera singers, all addressed to Mr Norman Richardson, comprising: Janet Baker (two handwritten thank-you cards); Ian Bostridge (postcard thanking Mr Richardson for his congratulations and wishing him a happy 2004); Anne Evans (handwritten card saying "I was amazed when I got the letter from Downing Street, but thrilled too. It was a very difficult secret to keep, but I just managed it!", 5 July 2000); John Shirley-Quirk (two handwritten thank-you cards, 1976); Eva Turner (eight typed letters, one reading "It was indeed kind of you to have thought of me on learning of the sad and sudden death of dear Amy Shuard...She was my oldest student, from way back in 1948 and through the yeas we had become very close. I shall miss her sorely", 25 April 1975; another card reads "I am glad you were able to see the Semprini 'Life' Programme and that it gave you pleasure as I am sure it did it to all those who took part. It was a lovely re-union for many of us", 9 May 1977; and a Christmas card); Joan Hammond (twelve signed Christmas cards, eight letters and three postcards, the letters mostly thanking Mr Richardson for his birthday wishes, one also reading "I heartily concur with you about living out of London. It is my favourite city, but I always loved getting back to Burnham Beeches...Life is busier than ever for me.
