The letter, to Lord St John of Fawsley, on monogrammed stationery, reads "Your beautiful flowers have given me so much pleasure, and I do want to thank you most warmly for your kind and tender thought. Last year you gave me a camelia plant, I brought it up here, and today it is sitting blooming outside the front door looking too fragile and exotic for words!
