SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL WITH POST-WAR HOLSTER. Cal. 9mm Luger. S# 9553b. Bbl. 4 7/8". P.38 semi-automatic pistol mfg. by Mauser in 1943. Left side of the slide is marked "P.38", followed by Mauser's mfg. code and the 2-digit year of mfg. "byf/ 43", and the S#, with an eagle firing proof and 2 Eagle/135 proofs marked on the right. Metal components exhibit a salt blue finish overall. Frame is mounted with 2-piece grooved brown pressed resin grips. Standard dovetailed blade front sight and U-notch rear sight. All serialized parts are matching and include the frame, slide, bbl., and locking block. MAGS: x1 WWII blued steel mag. marked "P38v/ U" and x1 post-war phosphate finished P.38 mag. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: post-war West German black leather holster. CONDITION: metal components retain large amounts to the majority of their original arsenal blue finish, exhibiting mild edge wear, with wear and thinning present on the edges of the muzzle and on the front grip strap that are fading to gray patina. Top of bbl. at breech area shows some wear and thinning from cycling of the action. Very bright bore, exhibiting scattered spots and streaks of light pitting, while retaining well defined rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics. Grips are very good overall. Holster remains malleable, exhibiting moderate wear consisting of scattered handling marks, as well as patches and areas of age related cracking and crazing. (26-1579/MLW). CURIO. $400-600.
