This poster was created to promote an exhibition of David Hockney's works for Vogue Paris. Hockney is primarily known today for his large acrylic paintings featuring swimming pools but, over the course of his long career, has also consistently produced portraits. His work has been the subject of more than 500 group shows and 400 solo exhibitions and is in the collections of the Tate, the MoMA, and the J. Paul Getty Museum among others. This exhibition was held at Galerie Claude Bernard from December 1985 to January 1986. Established in 1957, the gallery continues to show contemporary painting and sculpture in Paris to this day.
