A rare 1950s Hermes bag.

In Black Box calf leather with gold plated hardware.

In the rare G8 form. An elegant and practical take on the classic envelope bag, halfway between the Hermès Lido and the Hermès Piano bags from the 30s and 40s.

With an accordion interior with two main compartments. There is a snap closure pocket and slip pocket in one compartment and two smaller pockets in the other (as well as a front slip pocket).

Suspended by a short stiff handle and secured with a square push lock closure on the front flap.

Dates to the 1950s.

Stamped to the front pocket and underside of the lock "Hermès Paris."

Simply a wonderful bag from Hermes!

Overall Condition:
It is in overall good, as-pictured, used estate condition.

Condition Details:
There is some rubbing to the gold on the hardware. There are small losses to the leather on the snap and the back top corners. There is some expected wear, scuffs, and splitting (especially at the corners, interior of the flap, and along the edges). There is some slight fraying to the threads at the interior corners where they were tied off. The leather is in well preserved condition given its age. (But, should you choose as many collectors do, she certainly would benefit for a trip to the bag spa). Otherwise, there are some fine & light surface scratches and other signs of expected light wear consistent with age.
