Title: New Map of Shanghai. City plan by Ke Lang & hao Cheng. 1st edition July 1945 Description: New Map of Shanghai'. This map was published in July 1945 and shows Shanghai with its administrative divisions as they existed shortly before the full postwar reorganization of the city’s districts. The former foreign-controlled areas — the International Settlement and the French Concession — are no longer labelled as such, but are instead marked as “special districts.” Although these concessions had been formally handed over to the Chinese government during the war, notably under the nominal administration of Mayor Chen Gongbo of the collaborationist Wang Jingwei regime, they retained a degree of administrative autonomy until the end of World War II in August 1945. . Edited by Ke Lang. Drawn by Shao Cheng. Published 1st edition July 1945. Antique colour city plan with hardback cover. Size 53 x 75 cm | 21.0 x 29.5 inches. Condition: Good; suitable for framing.
