This striking pair of ceramic Foo Dogs, or Imperial Guardian Lions, is rendered in a vibrant Sancai-style palette, dominated by a rich amber-honey glaze with emerald green and cream accents. Each lion is seated majestically atop a rectangular plinth, featuring the characteristic "dripped" glaze technique that adds a sense of fluid movement and organic texture to the base.

The figures are traditionally gendered: one rests its paw upon a decorative silk ball (representing the world and the male's protection of the structure), while the other features a more subdued, watchful posture.
