Striking signed pair of heavy, abstract black stoneware sculptures, created in 2011 and inspired by the work of Georges Jouve. The forms reflect Jouve's iconic modernist language"”elongated silhouettes, pierced voids, and a strong interplay of positive and negative space"”while clearly reading as contemporary studio works rather than period originals.

Each sculpture is individually formed in black glazed stoneware and mounted on a square plaster base. Both bases are incised with an artist's mark, consistent with studio production. The sculptural quality, weight, and matte black surface give the pair a refined, gallery-ready presence.

These pieces work exceptionally well styled as a pair on a console or mantel, or used separately as architectural accents in a modern or mid-century–inspired interior.
