Born September 1 (14), 1916 in the village of Koryakin, now Saratov region. Father of Larisa Godunova, grandfather of Irina Godunova. Graduated from the Kiev Art Institute (1950). Teachers by specialty - K. Trokhimenko, G. Melikhov, O. Sirotenko, A. Shovkunenko. Painter and teacher. Worked in the field of easel painting. Author of thematic paintings, portraits, landscapes, still lifes. Works are full of vitality, bright contrast. The work is characterized by a confident stroke of the brush. Among his pupils are M. Popinov, M. Titov. Member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine (1954). Head of the art studio at the House of Officers (Kiev, 1952-1972). Worked at the Kiev Painting and Sculpture Combine at the Creative and Production Combine “Artist” (1960-1990). Participated in exhibitions: republican, all-Ukrainian, international (1951). Main works: “Recognition” (1957), “Overlapping of the Dnieper” (1960), “Recognition” (1964), “Winter” (1968), “Baikal” (1970), “In Gorki” (1972); portrait of T. Shevchenko (1978), “In Gorki” (1972); portrait of T. Shevchenko. Shevchenko (1978), “River Psel” (1989), “Malva” (1996), “Sunflowers” (1998), “St. Andrew's Descent” (1998), “Lilacs” (1998), “Bells” (1999), “Dahlias and Fruit” (2000), “Holiday Still Life” (2000), ‘Lilacs’ (2002), ‘Irises’ (2002), ‘Red Dahlias’ (2002), ‘Peonies’ (2002), ‘Petunias’ (2002), ‘Gerberas’ (2002), ‘Autumn Still Life’ (2002), ‘Summer’ (2002) and others. Lived and worked in Kiev, died November 8, 2002. Died in 2002.
