Description:This is a superb and quite rare chart relating to whaling, centered on the Pacific Ocean. It graphically depicting the sighting of various species of whales by season and relative frequency across the seas. The intent was to help whalers to find their prey. The chart was reissued several times by the Hydrographic Office of the US Navy from 1950s to 1970s. A number of the series F versions very also reprinted, such is this one. There is a sister version, "R", with one known example.
