Description:This is an excellent larger map of China and also of Korea. Much detail is offered, primarily in China as to topography, rivers, lakes, towns, etc. The Great Wall is shown. Extreme western Japan is not shown. It was derived from the Jesuit survey of 1708 to 1717. Text at left details these surveys, and a key at bottom right provides the meaning of relevant Chinese words. The map is embellished with a pictorial title cartouche depicting figures in regional dress at bottom left. A small compass rose appears in the Chinese Ocean. This is from Harris's Complete Collection of Voyages and Travels and this second edition was published by Woodward in 1744-48.
