
Description
Important tea kettle Wohl Werkstatt Paul Telge, Berlin, c. 1894 silver, partly gilded. Base articulated on four curved feet with rolled up bases with cast and embossed shellwork. Above it is a wreath with a flame rim. Inside the base on a teapot warmer held in place by three leaf-shaped struts with hinged lid and curved handle. Tea kettle secured with a pin and foldable. Chased foot with floral décor. Bulbous body with embossed and gilded bouquet of flowers, the neck with punched ribs. Appropriately decorated lid with bud knob. Overhead folding handle and spout decorated in relief. H. 42 cm. Weight: 2948g. A very similar tea kettle is located in Peles Castle near Sinaia, the former summer residence of the Romanian kings. The tea kettle was given to King Carol I and Queen Elisabeth on their silver wedding anniversary in 1894 by the German Emperor Wilhelm II.
