Title: ANGLO SAXON CHILD’S RING, 7TH-10TH CENTURY AD 1/2 Description: Probably a funerary ring for a baby, suggesting a family of wealth and power. Iconic form as found in the UK in the pre-Viking and Early Viking period. Child’s size 1/2 with 1.6mm rounded face band flaring to the ribbed shoulders. Broad flat bezel with a cluster of four impressed circles. See Ancient Rings, Pollio, p.42, lower left for a near-identical example. The arrangement of the circles is near-symmetrical. Rings of this type have been found along the route to the Holy Land, and pilgrim badges are commonly found in England. After Viking settlements were established, something under half of English soil was still occupied by Anglo Saxons who frequently fought the Vikings. Professionally refurbished with the 24karat gold overlay restored. Jewelry gift boxed with a certificate of authenticity.
