This antique American needlework sampler is an example of the schoolgirl art common in the 18th and 19th centuries, created to demonstrate a young girl’s mastery of embroidery. This piece is signed by Amanda Done in the '11th year of her age' and is dated 1852. The frame bears a sticker on the verso from 'Browers.'
