Born in Rome in 1938, Andrea Cresti trained in Florence under the painter Margherita Marchi and was influenced by key artistic and influential figures, including Carlon Pepi. From the 1960s onwards, Cresti immersed himself in a vibrant artisti enviroment, working with street artists and later engaging with experimental theater, where visual art and perfomance merge.
His work is characterised by the integratiion of painting, scenorgraphy and stage action, often creating directly on stage in interaction with actors. Over the years he also collaborated with artists and designers developing graphics, theatrical posters and lighting concepts that changed his artistic language. Among his major achievments is the creation of the Museum of Tradiional Tuscan Popular Theatre, a complex museum project completed in 2003 and included in the Sienese Museum System.
