The cloth bindings are faded, stained, and show water damage, particularly on germinal. The pages are tanned and have deckled edges. "Piping Hot" particularly shows wear to the top edge and spine. Staining on the covers is also present. The book "Germinal" appears to have significant staining towards the bottom of the spine and back cover as well. The slipcase is not available. Given the fragility, some volumes may be broken when handled. All pages are intact. Overall, a comprehensive set for a collector of Zola's works, but with clear signs of age and wear.
