Description
Guido Llinás (Pinar del Río, Cuba, 1923 – Paris, France, 2005) was an influential Cuban painter, printmaker, and art theorist, recognized for his role in the renewal of abstract art in Cuba. He was a founding member of Los Once, an avant-garde collective that broke with Cuban academic tradition in the 1950s, introducing a modern aesthetic influenced by Abstract Expressionism and European movements. His work is characterized by intense gestural energy, a contrasting palette, and the use of personal symbols that evoke both Afro-Cuban and universal elements. In 1963, he settled in Paris, where he continued his artistic production and was actively involved internationally. Throughout his career, Llinás developed his own visual language, establishing him as a pivotal figure in the history of modern Cuban art., reflects Guido Llinás's commitment to an abstract language with a strong spiritual and gestural charge. Executed in Oil On Canvas, the piece displays intense splotches of red, black, ochre, and brown, crisscrossed by energetic lines that accentuate the expressive power of the stroke. Far from any figuration, the work is constructed from a symbolic logic, where the gesture becomes an intimate and ritualistic writing. The surface vibrates with a sense of urgency and contemplation, inviting the viewer to an emotional and open reading. This piece is representative of the artist's mature period, when his work, already consolidated in Paris, reached a high degree of visual synthesis and conceptual depth.PRIVATE COLLECTOR.CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY.
