Etching with aquatint, with hand-applied color accents, the composition presenting Matta's hallmark Surrealist "psychological morphologies" suspended in a charged, atmospheric field of granular tone and linear energy. The image is constructed through aquatint passages that create soft, clouded veils and areas of speckled depth, animated by rapid, looping incised lines and diagrammatic, instrument-like forms that suggest both cosmic mechanics and interior anatomy. Small blue ovoid elements punctuate the space like planetary bodies or cellular nodes, while skeletal architectural fragments and clustered, rod-like structures drift in unstable equilibrium, producing the sensation of an invented world in flux. Pencil-signed at the lower right and numbered 2/50 at the lower left, consistent with mid-1960s limited-edition graphic work by Matta that bridges automatist gesture with precision-drawn, visionary structure.
