This exquisite 19th-century work embodies the subtle and masculine details characteristic of the Napoleon III period. Measuring 6 inches high, 16 inches wide, and 13.5 inches deep, the rectangular box features a raised panel top with inset trellis panels of exotic hardwoods and burls. The hinged lid lifts to reveal a removable fitted tray measuring 12 inches wide, 8.75 inches deep, and 1.25 inches high, divided into six compartments, each 3.75 inches by 4 inches. Under this tray, the lower section measures 11.5 inches wide, 8.5 inches deep, and 3 inches high, with a divided interior containing two compartments, each 6 inches by 9 inches.
The conforming lower case retains its original working key and lock and is flanked by four corner columns raised on elegant paw feet, enhancing its classic appeal.
