Afra & Tobia Scarpa for Maxalto "Africa" round dining table with the sought-after black lacquered top. This exquisite table features a striking wood inlay, resting on a square pedestal base with brass detailing. It has gorgeous details throughout, emphasizing a rare example of Italian postmodern design, combining sculptural presence with refined craftsmanship.

The table includes the trademark cement block featuring the Maxalto maker's mark.

This dining table is part of the Artona collection by Italian manufacturer Maxalto. The Artona line by the Scarpa duo was produced by Maxalto, the specialist division of B&B Italia. Maxalto was originally set up in 1975 as a high-end division of B&B Italia to focus exclusively on the production of artisanal, mostly wood furniture. The Artona was their first project and also functions as a counter-effort against the common prevailing use of plastics in furniture design during the postwar period.
