
Description
Offered is a framed anatomical engraving from Oken's "Naturgeschichte für alle Stände" (Natural History for all Social Ranks) published in 1833.  This hand colored antique print shows detailed anatomy of the eye.
Lorenz Oken (1779-1851)
A German transcendental naturalist, a physician, and philosopher.  He was profoundly influenced by Pythagorean mysticism, which is reflected in his writings.  Of which his most important is the 13 volume "Naturgeschichte für alle Stände" (Natural History for all Social Ranks) from which this print was acquired.
The print is in excellent condition with vivid hand coloring.  The matting is museum quality rag mat and it has reflection control glazing. The wooden frame has an antiqued hammered silver finish.
