Authentic antique 17th C. botanical woodcut prints depict different varieties of crocus flowers and bulbs. All are printed on one side only. An exceptional antique flower print (possibly from from Basil Besler's Hortus Eystettensis - 1613), the first great European folio of botanical prints. This hand-colored tulip engraving /woodcut – one of the most desirable from the entire set – shows nine crocus varieties, illustrating flowers, leaves and bulbs. Like the other prints in this series, it is identified with Latin names.
