About the artists: Basov Yakov Aleksandrovich (1923–2004) – Ukrainian painter and graphic artist. He studied at the studio of N. Samokish in Simferopol (1922-1930) and at the Institute. I. Repin in Leningrad (1932-1937). Lived in Leningrad (1938-1940) and in the Crimea (since 1946). He worked mainly in the field of landscape, in particular watercolor. Honored Artist of the RSFSR (1978). People's Artist of Ukraine. The artist's works are kept in museums of Ukraine and private collections in Ukraine, Russia, Japan and the USA. Ya. Basov is considered the best Ukrainian marine painter of the Soviet period.
