An elegant and well-proportioned early 19th century Scottish longcase clock, dating to circa 1840.
Crafted from figured mahogany with satinwood and inlaid detailing, the case features a broken swan neck pediment with brass finial and carved roundels above an arched hood with turned columns.
The brass dial is richly embellished with cast gilt spandrels and a silvered chapter ring bearing Roman numerals.
The arch is adorned with an engraved silvered roundel depicting a bird within a laurel wreath.
Finely pierced blued steel hands mark the time, with subsidiary seconds and date dials.
The trunk door is bow-fronted with decorative inlay, framed by reeded columns, and the base is panelled with contrasting inlaid quadrants.
The clock houses an eight-day movement striking on a gong, and remains in working condition.
