Painter, graphic artist, art critic
From a peasant family. She graduated from high school in Aktyubinsk, Mariinsky four-year teacher training college (1918). She studied at the Faculty of Social Sciences at the 1st Central Asian University in Tashkent (1920-1924), then in Moscow: at textile painting courses (1927), three-year Isoprofurses (1927-1930) with N. A. Udaltsova, and N. A. Studios Udaltsova and A. V. Lentulov (1930s), at the landscape workshop of the Institute for Advanced Studies of Artists, Painters and Designers in Moscow (1940-1941), Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov (1945-1949) at the art history department of the philological faculty.
She lived in Moscow, since 1937 - in Bakhchisarai (Crimea) and Moscow. She was married to the artist and art historian A. G. Romm. In the late 1920s, she became close friends with members of the Moscow Artists Society (former members of the Jack of Diamonds association) and the Thirteen group. She performed a number of cubist compositions and works in the spirit of "Moscow Cezannism": "To the Future (Rocket Flight)", "City Landscape (Moscow)" (both - 1928), "Composition with three figures" (1928-1930), "Still Life with red carafe "(1929)," Landscape with an airship "," Self-portrait "(both - 1930)," Moscow. Tsvetnoy Boulevard "(1933) and others.
In 1937 she met K.F. Bogaevsky, experienced his influence in her work. In the post-war years, I used the advice of A.V. Kuprin, worked with him in Bakhchisarai. She created genre compositions, landscapes, still lifes. The author of the pictorial cycles "Bakhchisaray and the surroundings", "Koktebel" (1950-60s), "Gurzuf" (1960-70s). In 1968-1972 she regularly worked in the creative summer house to them. D. N. Kardovsky in Pereslavl-Zalessky, performed the pictorial and graphic series "Russian North" (1968-1972). In the 1960s and 80s she also created a number of abstract compositions.
Since 1932 - participant of exhibitions (exhibition of the city committee of painters in Moscow). Member of the Moscow Union of Artists and Entrepreneurs Exhibited at exhibitions: young beginner artists in Moscow (1934), women artists for the International Women's Day (1939), the Moscow city exhibition of painting, sculpture (1946, 1947), Moscow artists for the XXII Congress (1959), women artists (1960, 1961) in Moscow; artists of Crimea (1952), Autumn exhibition of works of artists of Crimea (1955), Crimean regional art exhibition (1960), "Spring Palette" (1971, 1973), Regional art exhibition dedicated to International Women's Day on March 8 (1975) in Simferopol. She held personal exhibitions in Bakhchisarai (1959, 1962), cultural houses of the village of Old Crimea (1962), the village of Preduschelnoe (1962), in Moscow (1964), Pereslavl-Zalessky (1968, 1969), Sevastopol (1970, 1980), Simferopol ( 1971).
She participated in the publication: "Russian art. Essays on the life and work of artists of the second half of the 19th century "(M., 1954, reprint - 1971). Author of monographs: "Ivan Petrovich Vitali. 1794-1855 "(M., 1950)," Olga Maksimovna Manuylova. Life and creativity "(Frunze, 1965); guidebook "Bakhchisaray and surroundings" (Simferopol, 1968; reprints - 1976, 1979); many articles on art.
The artist's memorial exhibition "Symphony of Colors of Crimea" was held in 2010 in Simferopol.
Creativity is represented in many museum collections, including the State Russian Museum, the Novokuznetsk Art Museum, the Historical-Art and Architectural Museum-Reserve New Jerusalem, the Sevastopol Art Museum named after M. P. Kroshitsky, Kiev National Museum of Russian Art, Karakalpak State Museum of Art. I.V. Savitsky in Nukus and others. The Memorial Art Museum of E.V. Nagaevskaya and A.G. Romm was opened in Bakhchisarai.
