In 1867, Charles Larochette and Louis Bonnefont produced a large globe 50 cm in diameter for Delagrave intended for teaching: chosen to embody the quality of French geographic production, it was awarded a medal at the Universal Exhibition in Paris. Reductions will be made and disseminated in France, often for educational purposes. Congo is not yet named free state of Congo ( 1877) and is mostly unexplored ( see picture) , Pesth instead of Budapest and omission of the polar island of Frantz Joseph land in the North pole sea (1872), Alaska ( 1867). Overall all of the countries are easy to read and to discern.
