This 7 inches French globe was published by Hachette by Vivien de Saint Martin a renowned geographer of the early 19th in collaboration with for Shotte fromBerlin .Congo is not yet named free state of Congo ( 1877) and is mostly unexplored ( see picture), the river Congo is still not fully mapped , mention of taint Peteresburg in Russia , Alaska present ( 1867) . Budapest is still Pest in Hungary ( until 1873 ) Overall all of the countries are easy to read and to discern. The printing is really nice and well done , this type of globe belongs to the tradition of globe making of the 19th century . Twelve spindles of lithographed paper. Indication of sea currents. Blackened wooden base. Napoleon III period.; Hachette was founded in 1826 by Louis Hachette as Brédif, a bookshop and publishing company. It became L. Hachette et Compagnie on 1 January 1846 , last picture illustrate one of their past address.; Ernst Schotte ( the editor reseller )was an important globe and planetarium maker in Berlin active from the mid-1850s to late 19th.The firm produced various cartographic instruments and exported them across Europe .; Louis Vivien, known as Vivien de Saint-Martin (May 17, 1802 – December 26, 1896), was a French geographer in the 1800s. He lived a long life and wrote many important books.
