Some say it's a blessing, a beautiful hue, But others see it as something to eschew. My melanin-rich skin, so dark and bold, Stands out in a crowd, a sight to behold. But sometimes it's met with fear and hate, A target for discrimination and debate. They say it's just skin, why to make a fuss? But they don't know the pain and the loss. The battles we fight just to be seen, To be heard, to be treated like a human being. My skin colour , a gift or a curse, A question that lingers, a topic so diverse. But I know deep down, it's a part of me, A symbol of strength, a source of beauty. So let us celebrate our differences, Embrace the colors of our existence. For, in the end, it's not about the shade, But the content of our character should never fade. About Artist Odunayo John Iyiola is a Nigerian born artist based in Ibadan (b. 1995).
