Accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity. In an African setting where it is believed that serious matters are to be handled or solved by the wisdom of the aged. In this painting series, you see four aged chiefs trying to find ways of acquiring some information from a ‘prestigious’ mad woman who was resting calmly in her zone. Things turned out not as planned. They soon find themselves in a state of commotion because some situations cannot be controlled by just wisdom but certain measures must be taken. This series is a sarcastic representation of our country where the aged are given opportunities to handle critical situations or given high positions as it is believed they are more experienced and wiser. Even when positive results are not yielded, they are still left to take control of profound solutions. Why not put in charge young creative and active minds with great measures of innovations while the aged with experiences guide the footsteps taken by the young; therefore, bringing about huge growth and development? About Artist Naomi Oyeniyi is a contemporary Nigerian artist who earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from the Department of Fine and Applied Arts at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, with a specialization in painting. Naomi’s art is an amalgamation of her personal experiences, drawing inspiration from psychology, spirituality, social-cultural dynamics, my immediate environment, and observations of the world. Each of her artworks tells a unique story, encapsulating the essence of thoughts transformed into tangible form. She uses vibrant colors and bold contrasts to convey the emotional depth of each idea, while subtle textures and intricate details symbolize the complexity of our consciousness. Her technique involves the meticulous layering of colors using a palette knife, resulting in fractured lines that coalesce into figurative subjects. she painstakingly attends to details, employing deliberate brushstrokes to strike a delicate balance between realism, impressionism, and surrealism. While Naomi's works have gathered recognition both nationally and globally, her dedication lies in making a lasting impact and contributing positively to her generation. As an artist, she embraces evolution, continually welcoming fresh ideas and pushing the boundaries of her creativity. Her aspiration is for her art to serve as a source of inspiration, provocation, and introspection for all who encounter it. Naomi's prowess extends beyond the canvas; she has been featured in various group exhibitions and participates in art workshops. In 2020, she was awarded the prestigious title of “Winner”, representing Nigeria, in the International Visual Art Painting Category of the African Union Feminist Program. This achievement shows her exceptional talent and her ability to transcend cultural boundaries with her art. Beyond her art, she has lent her expertise to Teach for Nigeria, serving as a Fellow to educate students in underserved schools within low-income communities. A member of the Society of Nigerian Artists (SNA) and the Female Artists Association of Nigeria (FEAAN).
