Miles Ross, Paul C. Donnelly, and J. Anthony Llewellyn autographed trio of vintage NASA covers, each commemorating key Apollo missions and signed in ink by these notable NASA personnel.
Miles Ross, Deputy Director at Kennedy Space Center, boldly signed a July 26, 1971 “Project Apollo” cover postmarked from Jacksonville, Florida. The cover features an Apollo 8 “In the beginning God…” commemorative stamp and was issued from the USS Salinan (ATF-161), a recovery vessel supporting the Apollo program.
Paul C. Donnelly, Associate Director of Launch Operations at Kennedy Space Center, signed an Apollo 15 recovery cover dated August 7, 1971, postmarked aboard the USS Okinawa (LPH-3). The cover features a magenta cachet with the TF 130 recovery force emblem and imagery related to the splashdown and retrieval phase of the mission.
J. Anthony Llewellyn, NASA scientist-astronaut, signed a cover honoring the unmanned Apollo AS-202 test flight, dated August 25, 1966. The cover is postmarked aboard the USS James C. Owens and features a striking purple cachet with a rocket launch design and U.S. Navy recovery force insignia.
Fine condition.
Together, these three covers highlight the integral roles of leadership and scientific personnel in NASA’s Apollo program—from astronaut selection and launch operations to mission recovery coordination—making this an ideal trio for collectors of space exploration history.
