Details:
Apollo program biomedical prototype circuit board affixed in a 2” acrylic capsule and mounted to a detailed 8.5 x 11” provenance sheet certified by Sandy Clarkson of The Right Stuff, Inc.
Fine condition.
This rare artifact represents a key stage in NASA’s early efforts to develop miniaturized electronics for biometric monitoring during the Apollo program. Created by the Micro-Electronics Section of NASA, this white ceramic circuit board served as a “blank” starting point for the development of circuits used in flight hardware aboard the Apollo Command Module, Lunar Excursion Module, and in astronaut biometric monitoring systems.
These circuits were produced using 24 karat gold silk screen processing and included resistors, capacitors, and integrated components miniaturized directly onto the board—pioneering work in electronic circuit technology. Early boards like this were known as “proof of concept” prototypes and were among the first developed by NASA to address the challenges of stress, vibration, and weight during launch.
An exceptional example of early aerospace micro-electronic engineering, this encapsulated prototype circuit is a unique piece of Apollo-era development history.
