Willie Mosconi (1913–1993) was an American professional pool player, widely regarded as one of the greatest figures in the history of billiards. Nicknamed “Mr. Pocket Billiards,” he won the World Straight Pool Championship an unmatched 15 times between 1941 and 1957. Mosconi also helped popularize billiards through exhibitions, instructional books, and as a technical advisor for the film The Hustler (1961). His records, skill, and influence earned him induction into the Billiard Congress of America Hall of Fame, cementing his legacy as the sport’s foremost ambassador.
