Jerry Maren (1920–2018) was the last surviving credited Munchkin actor from the beloved 1939 MGM classic “The Wizard of Oz.” Standing just over three feet tall, Maren portrayed a member of the Lollipop Guild in the iconic Munchkinland sequence, one of the most memorable moments in the history of fantasy cinema. Beyond “The Wizard of Oz,” Maren enjoyed a lengthy career in film, television, and commercial work spanning several decades. In later life, he became a cherished figure among classic film collectors and fans, representing one of the final living connections to one of Hollywood’s most enduring motion pictures.
