Frank Borman (1928–2023) was a NASA astronaut, U.S. Air Force officer, and aerospace executive best known as commander of Apollo 8, the first crewed mission to orbit the Moon in December 1968. Prior to Apollo 8, Borman commanded Gemini 7 and played a central role in advancing NASA’s early spaceflight program. Following his NASA career, he became Chairman and CEO of Eastern Air Lines. Covers relating to the Space Shuttle Enterprise approach and landing test period, particularly those tied to the Boeing 747 Shuttle Carrier Aircraft program at Edwards Air Force Base, remain highly desirable artifacts from the formative years of the Space Shuttle era.
