STS-30 full crew autographed 10 x 8” NASA color photograph depicting the five-member crew of Space Shuttle Atlantis posed alongside a Shuttle model beneath the official mission insignia. The photograph has been signed by all crew members: David M. Walker, Ronald J. Grabe, Norman E. Thagard, Mary L. Cleave, and Mark C. Lee.

STS-30 was flown aboard Space Shuttle Atlantis from May 4–8, 1989, and is best remembered for the successful deployment of the Magellan spacecraft, NASA’s first planetary mission launched from the Space Shuttle program. After deployment, Magellan traveled to Venus where it conducted extensive radar mapping of the planet’s surface, dramatically advancing scientific understanding of Venusian geology and topography.

The crew consisted of Commander David M. Walker, Pilot Ronald J. Grabe, and Mission Specialists Norman E. Thagard, Mary L. Cleave, and Mark C. Lee. Thagard later became the first American to fly aboard the Russian space station Mir, while Cleave became one of NASA’s prominent early female astronauts and later served in leadership roles within the agency. The mission represented an important milestone in NASA’s planetary exploration efforts during the Shuttle era.
