Charles A. Lindbergh (1902–1974) became one of the most celebrated aviators in history after completing the first solo nonstop transatlantic flight in May 1927 aboard the Spirit of St. Louis. Departing Roosevelt Field in New York and arriving at Le Bourget Airport in Paris approximately 33.5 hours later, Lindbergh’s achievement transformed aviation and made him an international icon.
