Eberhard F. M. Rees autographed typed letter signed (TLS) dated February 22, 1978, written on personal letterhead from Huntsville, Alabama. In the letter, Rees discusses a lecture he delivered on launch vehicles and the process of launching, referencing his remarks on Explorer I and noting that his presentation was delivered extemporaneously rather than prepared as a formal paper. He further explains that the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics recorded the presentations with the intention of later transcription. The letter is signed in blue ink at the conclusion.

Rees (1908–1998) was a German-American aerospace engineer and senior NASA administrator who served as Director of the Saturn V Program at Marshall Space Flight Center during the Apollo era. A key member of Wernher von Braun’s rocket team, Rees played a critical role in the development and management of the Saturn launch vehicles that enabled the Apollo Moon landings. His correspondence offers valuable insight into NASA’s technical leadership and public outreach during the height of the space race.
