Original July 7, 1963 handbill advertising the Jet Harris & Tony Meehan and Peter Jay & The Jaywalkers performance held at the Winter Gardens in Margate, England, boldly autographed on the reverse by all four members of The Beatles. John Lennon, Paul McCartney, and George Harrison have signed in blue ballpoint pen, while Ringo Starr has signed in black pencil, additionally writing “The Beatles” above his signature. The autographs were obtained in person at the venue during The Beatles’ short residency at the Winter Gardens between July 8–13, 1963. Provenance includes a letter from the niece of the original recipient stating: “My auntie passed away age 82 in 2024, she lived in Margate, Kent. She was actually dating someone in a band at the time, and he used to take her to all the bands playing at the Winter Gardens in Margate. She went to see The Beatles in ’63 and got their autographs.” The handbill measures approximately 5.5" x 8.9" and exhibits expected handling wear, including previous folds with one tear along a fold line, four tape stains, and some additional writing on the signature side. An exceptional fully signed early-1963 Beatles piece dating to the height of Beatlemania just before the group’s breakthrough in America. The Beatles’ July 1963 performances at the Winter Gardens came during a pivotal stretch of relentless touring and fan hysteria following the success of “Please Please Me” and “From Me to You,” capturing the group at the precise moment they were becoming Britain’s biggest musical phenomenon.
