Description:"This print, intended for the artist's mother on her birthday, was being distributed at the time of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. Jacoulet's mother died of a recurring heart problem before she could see the work, and Jacoulet never reprinted it despite its immediate success. - The model is reputed to be the old servant who trained young Jacoulet in calligraphy, and remained with him for many years."
