Pictorial, bright and very good condition. A dynamic pictorial wall map depicting territorial areas claimed by various colonial powers 1750-1790 in continental U. S. area (lower 48). For example, part of colonial Georgia (in what is now southern Miss, and Ala.) is claimed by Spain with bright red borders above the recognized East and West Florida. Below that is depicted a 'Seminole Village Group' with two thatched roof dwellings and Indians drying skins (?) outside, above that is a 'Creek House' with smoke wafting from the chimney. In the upper Midwest are a lively 'Winnebago Camp' and Chippeway Lodge'. On the high plains are Mandan, Sioux, Blackfoot and Crow camps. A Pawnee is shown lighting a fire. In the Southwest appear a Comanche, a Sioux (?) on foot shooting a bison with an arrow, an Apache warrior, a Pueblo with a potter at work, and a Navajo weaving a blanket, The Northwest shows Nez Perces, Modocs and Chinooks in 'Oregon Country claimed by England, Russia and Spain'. Numerous fauna prowl the map. Deer, elk, moose, bear, fox, buffalo, wolves, birds, beaver and rabbits abound. A brilliantly colored compass rose and decorative title cartouche complete this most decorative historical / ethnoghaphical / biological showpiece.
