Description

A pair of graduated earthenware cachepots by Spode in the Blue Italian pattern. Each vessel features a cylindrical body with vertical fluting, a scalloped rim, and a slightly tapered base. The exterior decoration consists of an underglaze blue transfer-printed pastoral landscape featuring Roman ruins, figures, and animals. The interior rim is decorated with a wide floral and foliate border. Both items bear a black printed backstamp on the underside featuring the Spode script logo and the text MADE IN ENGLAND, ITALIAN, SPODE DESIGN, C. 1816.
