Meet The Beatles! LP released by Capitol Records (1964). Second album in the United States; first American album issued by Capitol Records in both mono and stereo formats. Although The Beatles were already U.K. superstars, this album was just weeks before their historic appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show (February 9, 1964). The LP stayed #1 on the Billboard album charts for 11 weeks, establishing The Beatles as a cultural phenomenon and launching Beatlemania in the U.S. It was one of the best selling albums of the 1960's.
