LP Released by Parlophone/Capitol (1967). 8th studio album widely considered one of the most important rock albums in history, and regarded by musicologists as an early concept album that advanced the roles of sound composition, extended form, psychedelic imagery, record sleeves, and the producer in popular music. Instead of a collection of songs, its concept presented The Beatles performing as a fictional band. It was one of the first rock LPs to print full lyrics on the back. The cover is one of the most iconic featuring The Beatles surrounded by images of dozens of famous people. In 1968 this LP won 4 Grammy Awards including Album of the Year.
